Support to the shipping industry is a routine task required of commercial diving companies and Gray Diving is able to offer a complete service ranging from propeller polishing to complex hull repairs.
Gray Diving Services is certified to carry out in-water class surveys by the following classification societies:
In-water Class Surveys are complemented by the use of our High Resolution video equipment which has built in image enhancement circuitry, to provide footage of remarkable quality and detail. Real time monitoring on the surface enables the surveyor to view the subject and direct the survey to his requirements. Full voice communication of all diver and supervisor dialogue is simultaneously dubbed onto the tape which can be recorded to USB drive or can be viewed through electronic media. Still photographs in digital formats can also be provided in panorama through to macro formats.
We are able to provide propeller polishing services using hydraulic polishing units and 3M Marine Polishing Pads which will give a Rupert Class A - B finish depending on the pre-existing condition of the blade surfaces. Photographs or video detailing before and after condition are also provided.
Shipping companies and agents are well aware of the importance of a clean hull and propeller. Some restrictions have been placed on the removal of marine growth in Australian ports excepting those vessels operating solely in Australian waters, however no restrictions apply to the polishing of propellers or cleaning of sea chest grates.
Repairs and maintenance of ships hulls and running gear are often required and may range from sealing stern glands up to weld repairs of the hull.
